Taxes and Visas

Please find information below:

Taxes and Visas

Recently, Bali’s Governor announced the introduction of a $10 tourist tax, which is expected to take effect in mid-2024. The tax will be a one-time fee that foreign visitors must pay electronically upon arrival to the island. Payment can be made upon arrival at either Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport or Benoa Bali Harbor. However, it is strongly advised to pay online prior to arrival to streamline the process and enhance convenience.

When coming to Bali, depending on the nationality, there are 3 types of available visas:

Visa-Free Countries: Visitors from 9 countries receive a Stay Permit valid for a maximum period of 30 days, which cannot be extended.*

Visa on Arrival (VoA) or e-Visa (e-VoA): Available to citizens of 97 countries, allowing them to obtain a visa directly upon arrival in Bali, or if not purchased online, prior to their visit. This visa is typically valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30 days.*

Calling Countries Visa: Required for nationals of 8 countries, necessitating an application at an Indonesian embassy or consulate prior to arrival, as well as the rest of the countries not mentioned in the above categories. Processes and requirements vary, therefore please consult the attached documents for more details or contact pactoconvexvisa@gmail.com email for getting guidance and support.*

Health & Safety

WAS20 in Bali Safety

When planning your trip to Bali, it’s important to prioritize health and safety.

Bali, a vibrant destination, requires travelers to be aware of certain health precautions. Mosquito-borne diseases, along with water-borne illnesses, are present in some areas. We recommend employing preventive measures including the use of mosquito repellent, opting for bottled water, and adhering to good hygiene practices.

Furthermore, to enhance your travel experience and ensure well-being during your stay, we strongly recommend consulting the guideline below:

Tips & Tricks in Denpasar airport

When you arrive to Denpasar (Bali) Airport, expect a hot weather and high humidity first! Don’t worry, a bottle of water will solve some inconveniences easily!

Mobile & Internet services
When visiting Bali, there is more than one alternative to use when it comes to staying connected. Nowadays, cellular internet has become a must-have, so eSIMs, SIM cards, free WiFi, roaming, and other options are part of the list. If you haven’t chose yet a digital option, within the airport you will find multiple accredited suppliers offering their services and you can choose what suit you best for your staying in Bali.
Currency

The official currency of Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). As the country’s main tourist destination, in Bali lots of prices are expressed in US dollars.
In Indonesia you’ll find notes with values of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 rupiah. There are also 100 and 1000 rupiah coins, although they aren’t often used.

Cards and cash

Although credit cards* are accepted in the vast majority of restaurants and shops in major cities, you’ll need cash for markets, taxis or if you’re visiting rural areas.
Tip: to avoid high exchange rates, it’s better to pay in the local currency.

*Please mind that AMEX is not accepted in Bali.

Exchanging money

We recommend withdrawing money directly from ATMs, that way you won’t have to travel with large amounts of cash. The usual fee for withdrawing money in foreign currency is 4%.
If you’d prefer to exchange money, you’ll find banks and bureaux de change both at the airport and in the different cities. Most hotels also offer money exchange.
